CHRISTIAN LEADERSHIP AND MISSION (CLAM)

At St Paul’s Church, Opunake, Taranaki, New Zealand

An amazing opportunity for 5 or 6 young people to spend 10 weeks from June 20th 2017 exploring mission and culture in New Zealand.

Based in a small rural community in Taranaki you will get to learn more about yourself, your faith and your mission. A small Presbyterian/Methodist church is experiencing some real growth especially with children, youth and families. This momentum is providing a catalyst for people coming to faith and the challenge is how to navigate through, with what God is doing.

For 10 weeks St Paul’s church is offering a great experience and opportunity for 5-6 Interns to join a team in Opunake, a small rural town with great surf beaches, close to Mount Taranaki. Here you will get involved in the local mission involving children, youth and families of all ages. You’ll get discipleship and leadership training, opportunities for personal development and lots of opportunities to serve and lead in a fun, practical environment under the guidance of a Mentor. (Check the 10 week plan)

You will get to live at the Mountain View Manse where board and lodging will be provided for free. You will receive a small weekly allowance. In addition you will get to do some travelling to see some of the sights of NZ, attend Connect the annual national youth leaders conference and help run a national leadership camp for young teens.

To be eligible you will need to be over 17/18 years, have an active Christian faith, have a sense of adventure, like working with people especially kids and youth and be willing to learn.

For overseas students you will need to purchase your flight to New Plymouth via Auckland and obtain a working/holiday visa prior to your arrival. You will need some pocket money if you want to do some of the more expensive activities like skiing at Ruapehu.
