Full time Lead Youth Worker position in a regional Presbyterian Church and Community Work.

The Saddle Hill Foundation Trust (SHFT) was established by East Taieri Church (Mosgiel) Dunedin to provide opportunities for connection, empowerment, wellbeing and positive change. As part of SHFT, Youth East Taieri (YET) achieves this by providing programmes, services, events and activities for youth. The trust is seeking a passionate, energetic person to be a part of our supportive team.

Already we impact a large number of young people each week through a vibrant range of church, school and community-based programmes. We want to grow this work. If you are ‘the one’, you will lead a team of paid staff and volunteers, providing pastoral care, mentoring, some programme content, and personal development of young people and volunteer leaders.

You will work out of our well-equipped youth facility which provides generous office, meeting rooms, recreation and storage areas. Technology and a whole range of sporting and youth work equipment are provided.

Key responsibilities of the role include: leading the YET team and overseeing the work; giving hands on leadership for some youth programmes and camps; providing chaplaincy in the local College; mentoring church and community youth; developing new initiatives and, with wider SHFT staff, work on responses to issues affecting youth in the Mosgiel community.

This is a full time position with scope to adapt the job description to fit the skills and abilities of the successful applicant.

This job would suit an organised person with good communication skills, qualifications and experience in youth work, and a heart for young people and their community. If this sounds like you and you want a new challenge in an enthusiastic team, we’d love to hear from you.
