Start and Grow Your Ministry with East Taieri Church

East Taieri Church (Mosgiel, Fairfield and Brighton in the Dunedin area) is seeking a passionate, energetic Christian disciple to join its fun and focused ministry leadership team.

East Taieri Church is a large and vibrant Presbyterian church, which actively engages with its surrounding communities in God’s mission.  At East Taieri we are passionate about seeing lives transformed through the saving power of Jesus Christ. We seek to provide a place where people of all ages and stages can encounter the living God. Each Sunday we offer four great worship services across three locations, which range in style from contemporary to traditional. We also support a wide array of ministries, which aim to help Christians live out their faith in their everyday lives.

About the role and where you fit in:

This full-time role will have particular responsibility for and a focus on:

  • Preaching, service leading and equipping the body of Christ
  • Building and supporting teams
  • Pastoral care and discipleship
  • Leadership support for our ministries which are engaging children and families

This role offers the opportunity to learn and grow under the guidance and mentorship of an experienced Senior Pastor and broader ministry leadership team whilst also being able to take the lead in areas of responsibility and try new approaches in the implementation of the vision and strategy of East Taieri Church.

About you:

The Associate Pastor position is ideally suited to someone starting out in ministry, although someone experienced in ministry with families may well feel called to apply.

Some of the personal qualities and gifts we are ideally seeking include:

  • Leadership ability – able to motivate and supervise staff and volunteers
  • Preaching/Teaching gift – able to teach and equip people to carry out pastoral care and discipleship
  • Pastoral gifts and listening ability.
  • Apostolic gift – able to take risks to start new ventures.
  • Self-starter who is able to manage own time and priorities and organize and manage projects.

It is expected that applicants will already have a degree level theological/ministry training qualification, although ongoing professional and personal development is also part of our team culture.

Vacancy – Presbytery Central Associate Youth Enabler

Is seeking an

Associate Youth Enabler (up to Full time)

Presbytery Central is the regional body for the Presbyterian Church of Aotearoa New Zealand in the lower North Island. There are Presbyterian and Union Churches, Church schools, Presbyterian Support (a social agency) and various chaplaincies in the regions of Gisborne, Hawkes Bay, Manawatu, Taranaki, Wellington and Whanganui.

Our primary purpose is to encourage, equip and resource these local churches and their leaders in continuing the mission of Jesus Christ within their communities. We are about networking and resourcing churches.

The Associate Youth Enabler works in collaboration with the Youth Enabler to create and develop an environment where youth leaders in the region are nurtured, supported and assisted to build healthy youth ministries, which offer young people the opportunity to grow their faith in God.  And as appropriate, encourages and assists the development of new youth ministries in the region.

Responsibilities include:

Training – Equipping and coaching those involved in youth Ministry                   

Resourcing  – Identifying and producing resources for the task of Youth Ministry.

Events  – Being involved in relevant youth events, eg Easter Camp

Networking – Actively networking among those involved in youth ministry within the Presbyterian Church and ecumenically.

Advocacy – Representing the issues and needs of young people and youth leaders on a local, regional and national level.

FT Vacancy CHCH, Hope Youth Trust Director

Youth South West Trust is seeking to appoint a Youth Director to lead and manage youth work, across three sites of Hope Presbyterian Church and beyond into the communities that make up South West Christchurch.  The leader will coordinate the team of youth workers and a large team of volunteers.   This is a full-time role reporting to the Hope Youth Trust Board and the Senior Pastor.  The Youth Director is a member of the Core Leadership Team of Hope Presbyterian that is led by the Senior Pastor.

We need a Director who has strengths, experience and evidence of competencies in the following areas:  visionary leadership, administration, developing a coherent and effective youth strategy, managing a cohesive and effective team, connecting with community and business leaders, maintaining effective key relationships.  Experience in the funding and grants applications process would be desirable.

We are looking for a person who is sustained by a deep personal Christian faith, who has a heart for the empowerment of youth, an empathy for those who work with youth, and who will develop and maintain spiritual and personal disciplines and a work – life balance that contributes to long term, sustainable ministry.

It is expected that the Director would commit to worshipping within the Hope context. 

To be eligible to apply, you must hold NZ Residency and have a full NZ drivers’ licence.  As a condition of your appointment, you must successfully complete NZ Police vetting.

This position commences on 1 February 2021.

FT YOUTH COMMUNITY WORKER WANTED – Wellington

St. Barnabas Church (Plimmerton Presbyterian Parish) is looking for a full-time staff member to focus on two specific and related areas of ministry on a 50/50 basis of time allocation, namely:

  • to actively lead, encourage and develop all aspects of Christian life with and for youth and their families/whanau in alignment with the St Barnabas mission plan; and
  • to be actively engaged with and in the community of northern Porirua, providing care, compassion and support to youth and their families/whanau through the Schools, sports clubs and other locations where youth gather.

Applicants should possess appropriate attributes including: a strong Christian faith; boundless enthusiasm, integrity and honesty; initiative, confidence and self-motivation; strong communication and interpersonal skills; competent administrative skills; ability to function both as a team leader and team member; and flexibility of hours.
