Rangatahi Noho Marae - Tuakana Stream

In April of 2024 we gathered for our first ever PYM Rangatahi Noho Marae, it was such a special unique journey for all of us involved. In June 2025 we are beginning our annual tradition of bringing together rangatahi from our presbyterian schools and churches from across Aotearoa. Many of you expressed an interest in coming back for a second year so we have created a stream for this. If successful you will become the tuakana of our 2025 trip. Your role will be to mentor, awhi and have fun with the 2025 rangatahi who become your teina. The tuakana-teina approach from Te Ao Māori  is one of learning and teaching,  you as the tuakana will step into leadership roles throughout the weekend  and you will receive teaching for your level. You will still be part of aspects of the program with the year one teina while also given your own unique opportunities.

Mā te tuakana ka tōtika te teina, mā te teina ka tōtika te tuakana.

It is through the older sibling that the younger one learns the right way to do things, and it is through the younger sibling that the older one learns to be tolerant.
